It will do good if Middle Eastern women were free to do what they want with their bodies, and were not considered sex objects and commodities of their family men.

Personal freedom had limits and this kind of personal freedom - nude male and female art - is unknown in our society.You misunderstand the concept!
I have no problem with nudity.If you wish for people to be more understanding about nude photography you need to understand and deal with negative comments.
Yes,Nude does NOT equal sexual and nudity is artistic expression,but that doesn't mean that it is acceptable in the society where we live in. As much as I want to believe being open minded about nudity,It would be great if we could get to a place where nudity was just a person with no clothes on. I think that will take a very long time though!

you know that i support nudity, and for me nudity is the most divine form of Art that exists. we should be proud of the beauty of our bodies.
just want to say something for those who oppose this idea; personal freedom is not ur society's business, if ur religion tell you it haram then why ur god created Adam n Eve naked?? if he has a problem with it then he should've put clothes on their bodies.
n i always say, we need a sexual revolution that is the first step to liberating women from the rotten mold they were put in.

و في نفس الوقت لا يوجد اي معنى لن تحاربين من اجل الحرية في مصر, فمثلا لماذا لا تحاربين من اجل الحرية في السودان.
هتقولي دي بلدي و وطني, هاقولك خدعوك فقالو, يعني ببساطة ما هي مصر و السودان كانت دولة واحدة من 60 سنة, يعني لو كنت اتولدت من 60 سنة كنت هتدافعي عن الحرية في السودان كذلك, و بنفس الاسباب.
وهو ما يؤدي الى نتيجة آخرى
فأما يكون ولائك للبشرية او ليس هنالك ولاء لأي شخص و تعيشين لنفسك.
و بما انك تحملت مسؤلية الجيل القادم-اي ان ولائك للبشرية , فلا يوجد معنى لتحدى مجتمع هو بالمقارنة بمجتمعات اخرى منفتح جدا, فيجب ان تتوجهي بثورتك الى بلد آخر اكثر قمعا مثل السعودية , او السودان أو ايران و تقومي بمحاولة تطويرة, فلا فرق لمصر على هذه البلدان بالنسبة لك.
لأن الولاء لا يعقل ان يكون لقطعة ارض, إنما ولائك للجنس البشري, فلماذا تفضلين الكفاح فى مصر على الكفاح في إيران مثلا, الم يتنقل جيفارا بين دول العالم المتخلفة لدعم ثوراتهم للحرية,

I'm very impressed and inspired by your courage. The revolution in Egypt needs to be a catalyst for greater freedom of expression. If somebody wants to wear a hijab they should be free to do so without facing discrimination but you must also be able to express yourself any way you choose without fear. It's your body and it's entirely up to you how you choose to express yourself.

I don't speak Arabic, but Google Translate gave me a rough idea of what some other people here have said, and I would simply say this: don't even think about them. You have the right to do with your body (and your life) what you choose to do.
I'm not Egyptian, so I guess that it is not up to me to say how a future Egypt should be or look like, but if it'll be people like you who shape your country, I'm confident that it will turn out just fine. :)

With your statement you are showing that change has come to Egypt, validating the sacrifice of the blood spilled in your revolution, you are the living proof that those martyrs have not died in vain.
Beautiful pictures. I have a feeling that some people around the world may feel offended. However, I wonder why??? Coming from Denmark - beeing a very liberal country in this aspect - I find this nice to see. I do pictures like these myself and I don't see anything awkward.... Very couragous and please throw in more of this....

ReplyDeleteI am also very surprised by the comments! i am from morocco and the situation is not that much different from egypt. But still i am impressed by the many positive comments and less negative ones. Some light is rising out of darkness.
Maybe we are not that far from a whole lightned picture! singin another "tala3a albadrou 3alayna"! a modern "badr" this time, with a liberty light and universal rights (oh great that rimes ^^)

I believe also in a very simple rule : do not do onto others what you do not want done to you and my freedoms ends where my friend's starts...I respect all religions and all religions should respect each other. There is only one God and many forms of adoring him/her. We are all the same no difference in color, race or religion : the soul is colorless and invisible and the blood is red for everybody. Love and respect is stronger than hatred and destruction and control from one person over another. We are all FREE...be careful out there.

Pour avoir vécu plusieurs années en Egypte, je peux témoigner de l'impressionnante tension nerveuse palpable en permanence dans la population masculine. La quasi inexistence des corps féminins dans leur quotidien, ajoutée à la limitation drastique de leur rapport avec les femmes avant un hypothétique mariage passé 40 ans, crée une incroyable frustration chez nombre d'entre eux (presque tous, en fait), qui deviennent (malgré eux) des animaux dès qu'ils peuvent enfin voir un bras, des cheveux, un décolleté... Le cercle est vicieux, plus les femmes cachent leur corps, plus les hommes réagissent à une surface infime de peaux découverte, plus ils deviennent agressifs, plus ils touchent, pelotent, tripotent, insultent. Si toutes les égyptiennes se dévoilaient, et que des rapports hommes femmes plus équilibrés étaient autorisés, peut-être verrions nous enfin cette terrible violence morale et physique à l'encontre des femmes diminuer avec la baisse de la frustration masculine (qui du reste ne sera pas désagréable aux hommes non plus). Bravo pour ce symbole fort, Alaa!
ReplyDeletePourquoi pas... Chacun est libre de se montrer comme il veut... Ceux qui se sentent choqués n'ont qu'à ne pas s'attarder sur les photos... Ceux qui insistent à "condamner" montrent bien que cette action est judicieuse puisqu'ils n'ont aucune "autorité" à condamner une action personnelle qui est celle de s'exhiber (sans imposer bien sur cette photo à ceux qui ne veulent pas la voir...)

Our bodies are amazing vessels that carry life; societies around the world have made it taboo to show ourselves in our natural beauty. Being naked is not simply about sex. Negative images and unrealistic expectations have made women AND men embarrassed to be nude.
